κἂν λάβῃ δὲ τὸ τῶν αἰσθήσεων πάθος, οὐκ εἴσεται τὰ ἐκτός. ἀνόμοια γάρ ἐστι τὰ ἐκτὸς τοῖς περὶ ἡμὰς πάθεσιν, καὶ μακρῷ διαφέρει ἡ φαντασία τοῦ φανταστοῦ, οἷον ἡ ἀπὸ πυρὸς φαντασία τοῦ πυρός· τὸ μὲν γὰρ καίει, ἡ δ’ οὔκ ἐστι καυστική. ἄλλως τε, κἂν ὅμοια δῶμεν εἶναι τοῖς περὶ ἡμᾶς πάθεσι τὰ ἐκτός, οὐ πάντως τὰ περὶ ἡμᾶς πάθη λαμβάνουσα ἡ διάνοια καταλήψεται τὰ ἐκτός. τὰ γὰρ ὅμοιά τισιν ἕτερά ἐστιν ἐκείνων τῶν οἷς ὅμοιά ἐστιν.
