οὐδὲ γὰρ ἔνεστι λέγειν, ὡς ἐκεῖνα μέν ἐστιν ὅσον ἐπὶ τούτῳ ἄδηλα, καταλαμβάνεται δὲ ὑφ᾿ ἡμῶν διὰ τὸ βέβαιον εἶναι τὴν ἐκ τῶν παθῶν σημείωσιν. οὐ γὰρ εἰ γλυκαντικῶς διατίθεμαί μέλιτος τῇ γεύσει προσαχθέντος, γλυκὺ πάντως ἐστὶ τὸ μέλι, οὐδὲ εἰ πικραντικῶς ἀψινθίου, πικρόν ἐστι τὸ ἀψίνθιον, ὡς ἂν ἐξ ἀνάγκης τῶν περὶ ἡμᾶς συμβαινόντων παθῶν καὶ τοῖς ποιοῦσιν αὐτὰ αἰτίοις ὀφειλόντων συμβεβηκέναι.
