Καίτοι τί περὶ τούτων διέξιμεν, ὅτε οὔτε ζῷον οὔτε κοινῶς κόσμος ὑποκείσεται συγχωρηθέντος τοῦ πάσας τὰς φαντασίας ἀληθεῖς ὑπάρχειν; εἰ γὰρ πάντα ἐστὶν ἀληθῆ, πάντα ἡμῖν γενήσεται πρόδηλα, καὶ εἰ τοῦτο, ἔσται ὑγιές τε καὶ ἀληθὲς καὶ τὸ πάντα ἡμῖν εἷναι ἄδηλα, ‘ὲν ἐκ τῶν πάντων καθεστώς· ἀληθοῦς δὲ ὄντος τοῦ πάντα ἄδηλα τυγχάνειν, οὔτε ζῶον οὔτε φυτὸν οὔτε κόσμον προσδεξόμεθα φαίνεσθαι ἡμῖν· ὅπερ ἐστὶν ἄτοπον.
