πάρεστι δέ, εἴ τινι φίλον ἐστί, καὶ τἀς ἄλλας ἀπορίας τὸν ἀντερωτῶντα, ὧς ἔθος ἔχουσιν αὐτοὶ τοῖς σκεπτικοῖς <.....> προσάγειν· δεδηλωμένου μέντοι κατὰ τὴν ἐπιχείρησιν χαρακτῆρος οὐκ ἀνάγκη μακρηγορεῖν. Πρὸς δὲ τοὺς τὰς πιθανὰς ἀποδεχομένους φαντασίας σύντομος ὁ λόγος. ταυτὶ γὰρ τὰ κριτήρια, δυεῖν θάτερον, ἢ ὧς πρὸς τὴν τοῦ βίου διεξαγωγὴν χρήσιμα αὐτοῖς ὑπείληπται ἢ ὧς πρὸς τὴν εὕρεσιν τῆς ἐν τοῖς οὖσιν ἀληθείας.
