ὥστε τοιοῦτον εἶναι κατὰ ἐξάπλωσιν τὸ ὑπ’ αὐτοῦ λεγόμενον ,, μὲν οὖν ἀληθὲς καὶ γνώριμον οὐθεὶς ἄνθρωπος οἶδε, τό γε ἐν τοῖς ἀδήλοις πράγμασιν· κἂν γὰρ ἐκ τύχης ἐπιβάλλῃ τούτῳ, ὅμως οὐκ οἶδεν ὅτι ἐπιβέβληκεν αὐτῷ, ἀλλ’ οἴεται καὶ δοκεῖ‘‘.
