εἰ γὰρ ἔστι τι χρόνος, ἤτοι πεπέρασται ἢ ἄπειρός ἐστιν. οὔτε δέ πεπέρασται, ἐπεὶ ἐροῦμέν ποτε γεγονέναι χρόνον ὅτε χρόνος οὐκ ἧν, καὶ ἔσεσθαί ποτε χρόνον ὅτε χρόνος οὐκ ἔσται· οὔτε ἄπειρος καθέστηκεν, ἔστι γάρ τι αὐτοῦ παρῳχηκὸς [καὶ ἐνεστὼς] καὶ μέλλον, ὧν ἑκάτερον εἰ μέν οὐκ ἔστιν, πεπέρασται ὁ χρόνος, εἰ δʼ ἔστιν, ἔσται ἐν τῷ παρόντι καὶ ὁ παρῳχηκὼς καὶ ὁ μέλλων, ὅπερ ἄτοπον. οὐκ ἄρα ἔστι χρόνος.
