ὅθεν καὶ ἡμεῖς στοιχοῦντες τῇ τούτων φορᾷ λέγομεν εὐθὺς ὅτι τὸ πιθανὸν προσαγορεύεται τριχῶς, κσθʼ ἕνα μὲν τρόπον ὅπερ ἐναργῶς τε ἀληθές ἐστι καὶ ἀληθοῦς ἐμποιοῦν φαντα- σίαν ἐπισπᾶται ἡμᾶς εἰς συγκατάθεσιν, καθʼ ἕτερον δέ ὅπερ ψεῦδός ἐστι καὶ ἀληθοῦς ἐμποιοῦν φαντασίαν ἐπι- σπᾶται ἡμᾶς εἰς συγκατάθεσιν (ὅπερ καὶ εἰκὸς ὀνομάζειν εἰώθασιν οἱ ῥήτορες ἀπὸ τοῦ ἐοικὸς εἶναι τῷ ἀληθεῖ), κατὰ δὲ τὸν τρίτον τρόπον τὸ κοινὸν τοῦ τε ἀληθοῦς καὶ ψεύδους.
