ἤτοι ἰσχυρόν ἐστι καὶ βέβαιον πρὸς πίστιν τὸ ἐξ ὑπο- θέσεως τι λαβεῖν ἢ ἄπιστόν τε καὶ ἀσθενές. ἀλλʼ εἰ μὲν ἰσχυρόν, καὶ τὸ ἀντικείμενον ἐξ ὑποθέσεως ληφθὲν πι- στὸν γενήσεται καὶ βέβαιον, ὥστε θήσομεν τὰ μαχόμενα. εἰ δὲ ἐπὶ τοῦ τὸ ἐναντίον ἐξ ὑποθέσεως λαμβάνοντος χωρίς ἀποδείξεως ἄπιστόν ἐστιν ἡ ὑπόθεσις, ἄπιστος γενήσεται καὶ ἐπʼ ἐκείνου, ὥστε οὐδέτερον αὐτῶν θήσομεν. οὐ τοίνυν ληπτέον ἐστὶν ἐξ ὑποθέσεως τι.
