Ἄλλος δέ τις καὶ τὸν Πλάτωνος παραλήψεται λόγον, ᾧ κέχρηται ἐν τῷ περὶ ψυχῆς (Phaed. p. 103 C), καὶ διδάξει ὧς οὐχ οἷόν τέ ἐστι μετουσίᾳ τῆς ἀποφάσεως πλεονάζειν τὸ ἀξίωμα παρὰ τὸ μὴ ἔχον τὴν ἀπόφασιν. ὡς γὰρ οὐδὲν μετουσίᾳ θερμοῦ γίνεται ψυχρόν, οὕτως οὐδὲν μετουσίᾳ μικροῦ γίνεται μέγα ἀλλὰ μικρόν· καὶ ὧς μετοχῇ τοῦ μείζονος γίνεταί τι μέγα, οὕτω καὶ μετοχῇ τοῦ μικροῦ ἔσται τι μικρόν. διὸ καὶ τὴν ἐννεάδα κατὰ τὴν τῆς μονάδος πρόσληψιν μὴ γίνεσθαι μείζονα. τὸ γὰρ ‘ὲν ἧττόν ἐστι τῶν ἐννέα·
