εἰ δὲ μήτε ἁπλῶς μήτε μετὰ ἀποδείξεως οἷόν τέ ἐστι περὶ τοῦ σημείου διαβεβαιωτικῶς ἀποφαίνεσθαι, ἀδύνατόν ἐστι περὶ αὐτοῦ καταληπτικὴν ἀπόφασιν ποιήσασθαι· εἰ δὲ μὴ καταλαμβάνεται μετὰ ἀκριβείας τὸ σημεῖον, οὐδὲ σημαντικὸν εἶναι λεχθήσεταί τινος ἅτε δὴ μηδὲ αὐτὸ ὁμολογούμενον· διὰ δὲ τοῦτο οὐδὲ σημεῖον ἔσται. ὅθεν καὶ κατὰ τοῦτον τὸν ἐπιλογισμὸν ἀνύπαρκτον ἔσται τὸ σημεῖον καὶ ἀνεπινόητον.
