ἄλλως τε καὶ εἰ τὸ κινοῦν ἐνεργεῖ, τὸ δὲ ἐνεργοῦν κινεῖται, κἀκεῖνο δεήσεται κινοῦντος ἑτέρου, καὶ τὸ δεύτερον τρίτου, καὶ μέχρις ἀπείρου, ὡς ἄναρχον γίνεσθαι τὴν κίνησιν· ὅπερ ἄτοπον. οὐκ ἄρα πᾶν τὸ κινούμενον ὑφ᾿ ἑτέρου κινεῖται. ἀλλ᾿ οὐδὲ ὑφ᾿ ἑαυτοῦ. ἐπεὶ <γὰρ> πᾶν τὸ κινοῦν ἤτοι προωθοῦν κινεῖ ἢ ἐπισπώμενον ἢ ἀνωθοῦν ἢ ἐνθλῖβον, δεήσει τὸ ἑαυτὸ κινοῦν κατά τινα τῶν προειρημένων τρόπων ἑαυτὸ κινεῖν.
