ἀλλὰ καὶ ἡ διαφορὰ τῶν κυριωτάτων μερῶν τοῦ σώματος, καὶ μάλιστα τῶν πρὸς τὸ ἐπικρίνειν καὶ πρὸς τὸ αἰσθάνεσθαι πεφυκότων , μεγίστην δύναται ποιεῖν μάχην τῶν φαντασιῶν παρὰ τὴν τῶν ζῴων παραλλαγήν]. οἱ γοῦν ἰκτεριῶντες ὠχρά φασιν εἶναι τὰ ἡμῖν φαινόμενα λευκὰ, καὶ οἱ ὑπόσφαγμα ἔχοντες αἱμωπά. ἐπεὶ οὖν καὶ τῶν ζῴων τὰ μὲν ὠχρούς ἔχει τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς τὰ δ’ ὑφαίμους τὰ δὲ λευκανθίζοντας τὰ δ’ ἄλλην χροιὰν ἔχοντας, εἰκός, οἶμαι, διάφορον αὐτοῖς τὴν τῶν χρωμάτων ἀντίληψιν γίγνεσθαι.
