Πολύς ἐστι Κρίτων παραινῶν ἡμῖν φυγῇ τὴν σωτηρίαν πορίσασθαι· οὕτω πολλοῦ ἄξιον τὸ ζῆν ὑπείληφεν εἶναι, ὃς ἕνεκα τοῦ ζῆν ἡμᾶς ἀξιοῖ κακῶς ζῆν, εἶτα δεδεμένον ὁρῶν με σχετλιάζει, ὡς τὸ δεδέσθαι ἡμᾶς ἡμῶν ἔργον ὄν, καὶ οὐκ ἐκείνων ἀδίκημα τῶν δεδεκότων. ἄμεινον μέντοι τοῖς ἀλλοτρίοις ἁμαρτήμασιν ἀποθανεῖν ἢ τοῖς ἰδίοις σωθῆναι.
