Τὴν μὲν σὴν καρτερίαν καὶ πάλαι ᾔδειν καὶ σφόδρα θαυμάζω, διότι διατελεῖς παντὸς ὢν ἐπάνω πλούτου καὶ δόξης καὶ ἐξ ὧν βιοῖς οἷον ἀπεικόνισμά τι Σωκράτους περίει Ἀθήνησιν. ἡμεῖς δὲ καὶ αὐτοὶ ἐπιμελούμέθα νέων ἐν Θήβαις, παραδιδόντες αὐτοῖς οὓς ἠκούσαμεν λόγους παρὰ Σωκράτους. ἔστι τε τοῦτο καὶ ἡμῖν καὶ τοῖς συνοῦσι κεχαρισμένον.
