Οὕτως ἡμαρτηκότα τὸν Ἰσραὴλ τῇ τῶν Ἀσσυρίων ὠμότητι παραδέδωκεν· ἐπειδὴ δὲ οὗτοι τῆς τιμωρίας οὐ διέγνωσαν τὸν σκοπόν, τηνικαῦτα καὶ τούτων καταλύσας τὴν δυναστείαν, ἑτέροις δουλεύειν ἠνάγκασεν. Καὶ ταῦτα Ἡσαΐας καὶ Ἰεζεκιὴλ καὶ πάντες οἱ προφῆται διαρρήδην διδάσκουσι· παρ' ὧν, οἶμαι, ὁ Πλάτων τὰς ἀφορμὰς κεκλοφώς, ἔφη τοὺς ἀνιάτως διακειμένους εἰς ὠφέλειαν ἑτέρων παιδεύεσθαι.
