ταῦτα γὰρ τὰ παλαιὰ διδάσκει ξυγγράμματα—, οὐδὲν ἧττον κἀκεῖνον σωτῆρα ἐκάλουν καὶ ἀλεξίκακον προσηγόρευον καὶ τὸ «Ἡράκλεις ἄναξ» τοῖς λόγοις προσέπλαττον· καὶ ὑμεῖς δὲ ὡσαύτως τοῖς τοιούτοις σεμνύνεσθε λόγοις, ἀποχρῆν εἰς παιδείας ἡγούμενοι περιφάνειαν τὸ τὰ τοιαῦτα ἐπιλέγειν ῥηματίσκια.
