Ταῦτα μαθὼν ὁ πάνσοφος βασιλεὺς πρῶτον μὲν αὐτὴν ἐπειράθη τὴν τῶν κακῶν ἐμφράξαι πηγὴν καί τινα τῶν ἐπ’ ἀγχινοίᾳ περιβοήτων εἰς τὴν Ἀλεξάνδρειαν μετὰ γραμμάτων γραμμάτων σβέσαι τὴν ἔριν πειρώμενος καὶ τὸ στασιάζον συναγαγεῖν εἰς ὁμόνοιαν προσδοκῶν.
