ἕκτη λέγεται μεσότης, ὅταν τριῶν ὅρων προτεθέντων ὡς ὁ δεύτερος πρὸς τὸν πρῶτον ἔχει, οὕτως ἡ τοῦ πρώ- του ὑπεροχὴ πρὸς τὴν τοῦ δευτέρου· οἷον ςʹ δʹ αʹ τὰ μὲν γὰρ ϛʹ τῶν δʹ δυσὶν ὑπερέχει, τὰ δὲ δʹ τοῦ αʹ τρισίν· ἔστι δὲ δʹ τῶν ςʹ ὑφημιόλια· καὶ ἡ δυὰς ὑπεροχὴ οὖσα τῶν ςʹ ὑφημιολία ἐστὶ τῆς τριάδος ἥτις ἐστὶν ὑπεροχὴ τῆς τετράδος.
