εἰσὶ δὲ τῶν ἀριθμῶν οἱ μὲν ἐπίπεδοι, ὅσοι ὑπὸ δύο ἀριθμῶν πολλαπλασιάζονται, οἷον μήκους καὶ πλά- τους, τούτων δὲ οἱ μὲν τρίγωνοι, οἱ δὲ τετράγωνοι, οἱ δὲ πεντάγωνοι καὶ κατὰ τὸ ἑξῆς πολύγωνοι.
