Fr. 86d Φυόμεναι γὰρ ἐν τοῖς τηλικούτοις αἱ ἀρεταὶ καὶ βλαστάνουσαι τό τε κατορθούμενον, ὥς φησι Θ., ἐπιβεβαιοῦνται τοῖς ἐπαίνοις καὶ τὸ λοιπὸν αὔξονται μετὰ φρονήματος ἐπαιρόμεναι. Τὸ δὲ ἄγαν πανταχοῦ μὲν ἐπισφαλές. (Plut. Agis. c. 2.)
