ᾟ καὶ δῆλον ὡς ἐν τοῖς δοκοῦσι παραλλάττειν τῶν ὁμογενῶν ἀεί τινα ζητητέον τοιαύτην διαφοράν. Ἐπεὶ ὅσα μὴ ὁμογενῆ τὸν αὐτὸν ζητεῖ καθάπερ ὁ κιττὸς καὶ τὰ πάρυδρα καὶ ἀλσώδη ῥᾴδιον εἰπεῖν· ὁ μὲν γὰρ θερμὸς καὶ ξηρὸς, τῶν δὲ ἡ φύσις ὅλως συγγενής. Ἔνια δὲ καὶ τούτων ἐν ταῖς καθ' ἕκαστον διαφοραῖς ἔδειξε τὴν αἰτίαν. Ὁμοίως δὲ καὶ ὅσα φιλόσκεπα τυγχάνει καὶ τῶν ἀγρίων καὶ τῶν ἡμέρων ὥσπερ ἡ ῥόα καὶ ὁ μύρρινος καὶ ὁ μὲν πυκνὸς ὢν καὶ ξηρὸς ἡ δὲ μανὴ καὶ οὐ ξηρά·
