Περὶ δὲ τῶν ὀδμῶν ἐπειδὴ καὶ αὗται κατὰ μέρη γίνονται τὰς αὐτὰς καὶ παραπλησίας αἰτίας ὑποληπτέον· ἡ γὰρ πέψις τοῖς μὲν ἐν τῷ ἄνθει μᾶλλον τοῖς δὲ καὶ ἐν τῷ καρπῷ τοῖς δὲ καὶ ἐν τοῖς φύλλοις καὶ ἐν τοῖς κλωσὶ γίνεται. Τοῖς μὲν ἐν τοῖς ὑδαρέσι καὶ ὥσπερ ἐν τοῖς ἀχύλοις ἢ δριμέσιν. Ἐν τοῖς ἄνθεσιν οἷον ῥόδῳ, κρόκῳ καὶ τοῖς τοιούτοις. Ὅσα δὲ αὐτῶν μὴ εὔχυλα καὶ ἐν ταῖς ὀσμαῖς ἐμφαίνει τινὰ βαρύτητα καθάπερ τὸ κρίνον καὶ τὸ λείριον καὶ τὰ παραπλήσια τούτοις.
