ὧν γένεσις οὐκ ἄνευ τούτων κἂν ταύτῃ γίνοιτό τις ἄνεσις· εἰ δὲ μὴ ὑγρότης ἀλλ' οἷον γλυκύτης ἐγγίνεται πρὸς τὴν τοῦ καρποῦ γένεσιν· ἅπαντα γὰρ ἐκ γλυκέος γεννᾶται, δι' ὃ καὶ τὰ πολλὰ τῶν ἀνθῶν ἐστι γλυκέα. Καὶ τοῦτο κατὰ λόγον ἐκλελυμένην τε καὶ θηλυτέραν εἶναι τὴν ὀσμὴν οἷον ἐπιγλυκαίνουσαν ἀφῃρημένης τῆς ἀκράτου δριμύτητος. Τούτων μὲν οὖν τοιαύτην τινὰ αἰτίαν ὑποληπτέον.
