συμβαίνει δὲ κἀκεῖνο ἴδιον ἐν ταὐτῷ τούτῳ περὶ τὴν ἐλάτην· ὅταν μὲν γάρ τις τοὺς ὄζους ἄπαντας ἀφελὼν ἀποκόψῃ τὸ ἄκρον, ἀποθνήσκει ταχέως· ὅταν δὲ τὰ κατωτέρω τὰ κατὰ τὸ λεῖον ἀφέλῃ, ζῇ τὸ κατάλοιπον, περὶ ὃ δὴ καὶ ἡ ἄμφαυξις φύεται. ζῇ δὲ δῆλον ὅτι τῷ ἔγχυλον εἶναι καὶ χλωρόν, εἴπερ ἀπαράβλαστον. ἀλλὰ γὰρ τοῦτο μὲν ἴδιον τῆς ἐλάτης.
