φασὶ δὲ οἱ μὲν εἶναι ἐπέτϲιον οἱ δὲ διαμένειν τὴν μὲν ῥίζαν εἰς χρόνον, ἐξ ἦς καὶ τὴν βλάστησιν εἶναι τοῦ καυλοῦ. τοῦτο μὲν οὖν σκεπτέον. ἴδιον δὲ παρὰ τἆλλα τὸ τῶν παραφυομένων ἐκ τοῦ καυλοῦ τριχωδῶν· οὔτε γὰρ φύλλα ταῦτα οὔτε καυλός· ἐπεὶ τό γε τῆς παραβλαστήσεως κοινὸν καλάμου καὶ ἄλλων.
