διὰ τὸ αὐτὸ δὲκαὶ τὸ πολὺ πῦρ ἄκαπνον ὅτι φλογοῦται καὶ ἐξισχύεται πολλοῦ πυρὸς ὄντος· ὅταν γὰρ πλέον τὸ καιόμενον, ἔλαττον τὸ καπνιζόμενον, ἐξαφθέντος ἤ θυμιωμένου. καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν ζηρῶν ξύλων πυκνῶν συντιθεμένων ἄνωθεν οἱ ἄνθρακες ἐπιβαλλόμενοι ποιοῦσιν ἀκαπνότερον, ὅτι ἐκφλογοῦται πᾶς ὁ καπνὸς ἐμπίπτων εὐθὺς εἰς τὸ πῦρ καὶ τῇ πυκνότητι κατακλειόμενος.
