Ἀλληγορία ἐστὶ λόγος ἕτερον μέν τι κυρίως δηλῶν, ἑτέρου δὲ ἔννοιαν παριστάνων καθ᾽ ὁμοίωσιν ἐπὶ τὸ πλεῖστον, οἷον ἧς τε πλείστην μὲν καλάμην χθονὶ χαλκὸς ἔχευεν.
