τοῦτο μαθὼν Οὐάλης, καὶ τὰς ἐν πολέμοις καὶ τῇ πάσῃ πολιτείᾳ τοῦ ἀνδρὸς ἀρετὰς ἐπιστάμενος, αἱρεῖται στρατηγὸν αὐτὸν καὶ τὴν ἡγεμονίαν τοῦ παντὸς πιστεύει πολέμου.
