ὃ δὲ βραχέα τῶν κατὰ τῆς πολιτείας αὐτῷ πεπλημμελημένων ἐν ὀνείδους μέρει διεξελθὼν τῷ δημίῳ παρέδωκε, τὴν ὀφειλομένην ἐκτίσοντα δίκην. Μαξίμῳ μὲν οὖν τοῦτο τοῦ βίου καὶ τῆς τυραννίδος ἐγένετο τέλος, ἅμα τῷ κατὰ Οὐαλεντινιανοῦ προτερήματι πᾶσαν ἕξειν ἀκονιτὶ τῶν Ῥωμαίων ἀρχὴν ὀνειροπολήσαντι:
