Λέων δὲ τοῖς περὶ τὸν Ἑλλήσποντον διέτριβε τόποις, οὔτε συμπεσεῖν ἐς μάχην Τριβιγίλδῳ θαρρῶν, καὶ ἅμα δεδιέναι φάσκων μή ποτε δἰ ἑτέρας ὁδοῦ μέρος τι τῆς στρατιᾶς ἐκπέμψας Τριβίγιλδος τὰ περὶ τὸν Ἑλλήσποντον λάθῃ χωρία καταστρεψάμενος.
